XXVII CONVENTION DE JUEGO DE MESA Y COMICS ~
[Monterrey (Cintermex)-Mexico]
I was invited as special
guest at the "XXVII Convention de Juego de Mesa y Comics"
held in Monterrey (Mexico) on 5-6 November 2005. When I recived
the invitation I couldn't believe it: previous special guests
invited at this event was people like Sean Austin and Kristanna
Loken! Wow! I had my first apparence in Mexico, in front of a
thousand mexican fans and it was one of the most "cool"
experience I've had in my life. Mexico is great and mexican people
too! I have had a lot of fun with cosplay, tacos and lucha libre!
Eheh! So, here it is, day by day, a report with photos of the
event. Enjoy!

October 2005 - 1 November 2005
Italian girl in New York!
I left from Roma Fiumicino airport with a direct flight to New York
City. I decided to stay in New York City for 5 days and participate
in the Halloween parade. Finally I have seen the "Big Apple"!
The first thing I've done when I reached the shores of NY City was
buying a wool scarf, hat and gloves at the Billabong store: I love
winter but it was so cold! I spent all the days running up and down
the whole Manhattan. Liberty Island, Central Park, Brooklin's Bridge,
Ground Zero, Avenue of the Americas, Hooters (!!!) Flatiron Building
and so on... I visited all the places I have always seen on movies! |

2 November 2005 I arrived at Monterrey airport (after a flight
switch in Dallas) at 7.30 pm. The organizer of the event picked
me up at the airport and with Alechan (cosplayer from Monterrey)
I had my first mexican (spicy) dinner! Then, I went to sleep!
I was so tired! ^_^;

November 2005
On the morning Alechan bringed me to the "Museum of Mexican
History". Yeah, everyone knows that I love history and in
this museum I've seen a lot of maya and aztec manufactures. On
the evening I met Adella and Kyle from cosplay.com. They were
guests too at the event and we had a room in the same hotel of
mine, so I was able to meet them very often! The day after we
had a tour to the event place, watching the stands and talking
with some of the organizers. Everything was ok and the event looked
so nice: there was so much merchandising and nice things to buy.
I was wearing normal clothes, no costumes, but so much people
were recognizing me, stopping me to ask for photos or autographs.
That was cool! Aha! I never imagined that mexican people loves
Francesca Dani so much! Yeah! *blink* On the night I did a photoshoot
set in front of Cintermex with Kyle and Adella, they are very
nice persons, I was so lucky to meet them.

2005
This was my first day at the convention. At 12.00 am I had my first
apparence in public with an autograph session. For this occasion
I worn my most popular costume, Francoise from Cyborg 009. Oh my
god, I never imagined that there was so much people interested to
get and autograph from me. Ahah! It was so fun! I felt like a hollywood
superstar! :P And oh yeah, the organizer provided to me and Adella
two big guys that escorted us around the convention area: yeahhh
I've got bodyguard too! In the morning I changed my costume into
Pretty Cure cosplay (the one I've done for the World Cosplay Summit
2005), I had another autograph session and after that I was judge
at the Iron Cosplay contest. |

November 2005
That was the great day! For the main event I made one of my "dream
costumes". I was having this one on my "upcoming list"
for a long time but I hadn't any time to make it: I was MORRIGAN
from Darkstalkers! I love so much the final result and how it
fits on me!
At 9.30 I had a tasty breakfast into the Cintermex guest lobby
with the VIP members. I spent some minutes talking and taking
some photos with them. At 13.00 I met Alechan, Alin and her boyfriend
(sorry dude, I don't remember your name... ^^;) and Paula. We
had fun doing photoshoots 'cuz we decided times ago to do a Darkstalkers
group. And all of them were sooo nice in these costumes! Great
job guyzz! At 14.00 I was judging at the Cosplay Dance show and
at 15.00 I had my conference in front of hundreds of people. It
was my first conference and I was a bit nervous and worried but
all the fans were very kind. The conference was a Q&A with
the audience and they asked me about a lot of things! They asked
me in spanish and Alechan, that was the hostess of the conference,
had translated to english for me. When the time for questions
was over, people asked me to pose for photos: I had a lot of flashes
in front of me! After the conference I had my last autograph session.
There was so many people in queue, and I finished my promocards
for autographs before the closing of the session: in 2 days I've
signed around 300 promo cards! In the late evening there was the
main cosplay contest: there was around 120 cosplayers attendants
and I was judge of the contest with Kyle and Adella. When I was
walking out of the office to reach the judge stage, the audience
started yelling my name, flashing the cameras at me and Adella,
and showing up papers to sign... Oh my God, it was so unreal!
I still can't believe that I was so welcome in Mexico! As for
the contest itself there was so many cosplayers and all of them
was so great with good performance and accurate costumes. It was
so hard choose only 4 winners. After the end of the contest, Robert
and Sammy, the two bodyguard, escorted us to the hotel. I was
very tired, the whole day was so excited and I've met a lot of
nice people that gave me a lot of fun at the event.

November 2005
The day after the convention I had free time, just relaxing in
the hotel's pool and say "bye bye" to Adella and Kyle
that had their flight early in the afternoon. I promised to meet
them next year in LA and so it will be.
8 November 2005
I left in the early morning. Monterrey to Chicago, Chicago to
London, London to Rome was my flight plan, and after 25 hours
of flight (switching time included) I was in my home room. This
wonderfull experience was finished, but I met some great people.
Mexico is a great country with funny and lovely people and mexican
cosplayers are so damn good! Keep up the great work! You guys
rock!!!
HASTA
LUEGO!
Thanks
to:
Faustino, Alejandra, Robert and Samuel, Adella, Kyle, Hatsumi,
Fira, Gloria, Paula, Alin and her boyfriend, Marisol, Paty, Raul
Martinez and all the other people that probably I've forgotten. Thank you all for taken care of me!
